Celebrities Who Get It – They Don’t Alienate the Public By Publicly Trashing Other People’s Politics or Religious Views

Celebrities Who Get It – They Don’t Alienate the Public By Publicly Trashing Other People’s Politics or Religious Views

This is an on-going list. Any time I see a famous person who comprehends that it’s really stupid to unnecessarily offend about half the country (and it’s almost always liberal celebrities trashing right wing people or people with conservative religious beliefs) I want to add such examples to this post.

(I may also post examples of celebrities who speak up in disagreement with liberal celebrities and directors on other matters.)

Just to get started:

Mel Brooks (actor, director, comedian):

Beatrix Potter, Work Rejected, Self-Published “The Tale of Peter Rabbit,” Now a Bestseller for All Time

Excerpts:

….Long before she became a popular published author, Beatrix developed a particular talent for scientific illustration by drawing and exploring fungi. In 1896, she wrote a paper on fungi reproduction titled “On the Germination of the Spores of Agaricaceae,” which, unfortunately, was rejected by the Royal Botanical Gardens.

A year later, George Masse, a fungi expert from Kew gardens in London, presented her work to the Linnean Society of London, a place where Beatrix, being a woman, was not permitted to present it herself. Nevertheless, scientists today recognize and appreciate her contribution to mycology.

The male members of the scientific milieu in England were not the only ones who ignored Beatrix’s aspirations. Her family also disapproved, believing that a proper, respectable lady must eventually marry and certainly mustn’t work.

This Is the Best Way to Recover From Failure by Julia Zorthian

Excerpt:

Embracing the sting of failure may not sound enjoyable — but new research shows it’s the best way to learn from mistakes.

A study in the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making found that people who ruminated on their emotions about failure were likely to try harder to correct their mistakes than those who made excuses or didn’t let their failures bring them down.

He tried and failed to turn his talent for throwing a football into stability. Now, at 48, he’s trying again.

He tried and failed to turn his talent for throwing a football into stability. Now, at 48, he’s trying again.

Excerpts:

….Most of all, perhaps, Marinovich is held up as a cautionary tale, widely depicted as a victim of his father’s attempt to engineer a star athlete with intense physical training.

Now, the old quarterback is experiencing a midlife crisis in the lower rungs of football that is as intriguing as it is desperate.

“We knew you’re crazy,” Marinovich says of the reaction from loved ones when he told them he was going to suit up for the SoCal Coyotes, a team in the World Developmental League. “Now it’s confirmed.”

But, in some ways, this makes sense, even as it creates odd scenes like Marinovich being tutored by a teammate half his age. Sports provide the structure, demand the discipline and establish the goals that can benefit a chronic substance abuser.

“I really haven’t known how to deal with life,” Marinovich said.

Marinovich has tried before, with little success, to parlay his talent for throwing a football into happiness and stability.

Rotten Tomatoes Isn’t Actually Responsible For Hollywood’s Woes, a Data Scientist Finds

Excerpts:

by Ashley Rodriguez

…But, as it turns out, Rotten Tomatoes may not be the box-office buster some believe it to be.

Yves Bergquist, a data scientist at the University of Southern California’s Entertainment Technology Center, analyzed the critics and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes for the 150 titles that grossed more than $1 million in 2017, and those since 2000 that grossed more than $2 million worldwide.

A Man Who Studied Rich People for 5 Years Found That They Avoid One Type of Person by K. Elkins

Excerpts:

Eighty-six percent of the rich people in his study made a habit out of associating with other success-minded individuals. On the flip side, “they also make a point to limit their exposure to toxic, negative people,” he explains.

Celebrities With Conservative Derangement Syndrome Fall 2017

Celebrities With Conservative Derangement Syndrome Fall 2017

Is it Fall 2017 already? I first started these Conservative Derangement / Trump Derangement Syndrome posts around January 2017.

In some cases, liberal celebrities don’t just bash Trump, they bash anyone who voted for Trump.

As fall melts into winter, I will edit this post to add any new anti-Trump or Conservative Derangement comments or behavior by celebrities.

Chrissy Tiegen | September 2017

All I know is that she is supposedly a celebrity, but I don’t know who she is. I’m not sure if she is an actress or a model or what.

Chrissy Tiegen makes it known that when she slams the president, she’s NOT just insulting Trump

Robert Redford (movie actor) | September 2017

Robert Redford to Esquire: Trump Is ‘Our Fault,’ Worse ‘Than Nixon’

by C Weaver, Sept 13, 2017

Starring in movies about politics allegedly gives celebrities a political background. At least, that’s what Robert Redford thought in his latest interview.

The actor spoke with Esquire’s Michael Hainey in an interview published on September 13, where he talked about Nixon, Trump, and Mitch McConnell. …

On the subject of Donald Trump, Redford said, “I just think he is who he is. You can’t blame him for being who he is. He’s always been like that. He’s our fault — that’s how I see it.”

Since he starred in All the President’s Men, Redford decided that he had enough political credibility to be able to compare Nixon to Trump: “Whatever Nixon was, whatever his dark side, he was an accomplished politician … I think on the other side, there’s more ignorance.”

Danny Zucker (TV producer) | September 2017

WOW: Modern Family producer tweets ‘Dear Christians … f*ck you’ over DACA , deletes tweet

It seems like DACA has brought out the ugliest (and most hilarious) deleted tweets from our ‘friends’ on the Left. Suppose that’s what happens when your whole set of political ideals is based on emotion rather than fact or reality.

Like this winner from Danny Zuker, producer of Modern Family:

[Tweet said:]

@DunnyZucker

Dear Christians, if you support @realdonaldtrump’s decisin to end DACA your Christianity is bullshit. But on the other hand fuck you. 9/3/17, 10:13 PM

/// end Tweet

Guess Danny doesn’t think Christians watch his show? Or maybe he just doesn’t want them to.

Can a White Person Make a Movie about African Americans? by Brendan O’Neill

Can a White Person Make a Movie about African Americans? by Brendan O’Neill

Can a White Person Make a Movie about African Americans? by Brendan O’Neill

Excerpts:

Some on the left say no.

Not content with harassing white people who wear their hair in cornrows and branding as “cultural appropriation” everything from college cafés serving sushi to Beyoncé donning a sari, now the new racial purists are coming for film director Kathryn Bigelow.

Her crime? She’s a white woman.

More specifically, she’s a white woman who dared to tell the story of the 1967 Detroit riots in her latest movie.

It’s wrong for whites to tell black stories, apparently, because they can never truly understand those stories. It’s a profoundly philistine argument that exposes the misanthropy of the racial thinking that passes for radical commentary these days.

Worst Box Office In 25 Years (Sept 2017): Hollywood’s Problems Are Permanent & Deep

Worst Box Office In 25 Years: Hollywood’s Problems Are Permanent & Deep

Worst Box Office In 25 Years: Hollywood’s Problems Are Permanent & Deep

Excerpts:

Even before this catastrophic Labor Day weekend is factored in (more on this below), the domestic 2017 box office is in hideous shape. This year is –6.3% behind 2016 and continues to fall behind 2015, 2013, and 2012.
If you figure in inflation, those numbers are even worse.

For example, in 2012 the average ticket cost $7.96. Today it is almost a full dollar more at $8.89. Yeah, things are that bad and will look even worse on Tuesday.

With no apparent faith in their own product, this is the first Labor Day in 25 years where a new title has not been released on more than 1,000 screens. Over this weekend last year, the box office hauled in nearly $130 million. This year will do about a third of that.

Summer attendance is at a 25-year low.

Lady Gaga Breaks Down Revealing She’s Alone Despite Fame, as Her Former Christian Teacher Warned

Lady Gaga Breaks Down Revealing She’s Alone Despite Fame, as Her Former Christian Teacher Warned

In so far as celebrities can make it to the top of their respective careers (sports, singing, or acting), I admire that, but – first of all, I do not worship celebrity, as so many other people do, but secondly, I have seen so many stories for years now about how when someone finally becomes really famous, they still end up happy. Some celebrities commit suicide.

Here’s an article I saw today about how singer Lady Gaga still sometimes feels lonely, even though she’s very famous and successful:

Lady Gaga Breaks Down Revealing She’s Alone Despite Fame, as Her Former Christian Teacher Warned

by J Law

August 30, 2017

Lady Gaga’s [real name – Stefani Germanotta] former teacher, evangelist Chris White, once warned the pop star that she would be left feeling empty from her fame. In a new preview for her upcoming “Five Foot Two” documentary, the singer tearfully reveals that she is in fact alone despite her fame.
